Harwich Redoubt Fort

Main Road, Harwich CO12 3LT, UK – 01255 553610

Brilliant experience for my children and me. We were enthralled by the sheer volume of work that has gone into excavating and rebuilding an incredibly important historic military Fort. It is well maintained and cared for. My sons couldn't get enough of the hand guns, rifles, stencil guns. Anti aircraft guns. Cannons and The Gilbert Gun. (monster). Seeing feeling smelling and touching history impacts on young people far more than a classroom. Great experience. Thank you

Nice walk and history. Very clean and interesting. Nice looking at all the old equipment and reading about how it was used. Took kiddies and they seemed to enjoy the walk around.

Ha'penny Pier

Ha'penny Pier,, View Point Rd, Harwich CO12 3HB, UK

Arrived from Shotley on the very pleasant and efficient harbour ferry. The pier cafe has reasonably priced fare served by cheerful staff. There is a local heritage hut where you can find out about Harwich history and take a self guided tour of the town. On a lovely day like yesterday we spent a fascinating time in the town.

Good cafe on pier, especially sea food. Trip across harbour to Felixstowe recommended...

They had bathtubs! A luxury when being on a boat for a while. Really good facilities, multiple shower units around the premise, so regardless of which berth you're it's not too far to walk. While we were there the toilets were usually closed at ~22:00 for cleaning, so bear this in mind, may need to walk further at this time to use a different set. Laundry tokens you get from the bar. Be careful, if you open the dryer, this resets the timer.

This is a great for long walks an clear the mind of any stress .a really happy place to go.🐆.
